
Wavefront Systems is looking for entry level Software Engineer with good understanding of Software Development Lifecyle and practices in the industry to implement new features and further develop software for cutting edge sonar-based products.
The new team member will be part of a small team of software engineers reporting to the Software Manager in Wavefront Systems and liaising with the Business Development, Operations, and other engineers across projects.

Software Engineer
The Software Engineer will be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, detailed design of software components, coding, documentation, integration, and validation on target hardware. On rare occasion this may require working offsite (sometimes overseas) to integrate and test systems at sea or at client sites.
The Software Engineer must employ good understanding of base software development practices and will be expected to work alongside Senior Software Engineers and Software Manager to further improve the quality of the current code base, implement new features for existing platform and introduce new components within the existing system architecture.
Candidate competencies and experience
Wavefront Systems Software Development Team is looking for a new team member with good understanding and demonstrable experience of the following languages, technologies and frameworks:
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2022
- Agile Software Development (Scrum or similar)
- C# .NET/.NET Core (from .NET 4.6 to 9.0)
- Visual C++ 14.0 or higher.
- Multithreading and concurrent execution.
- OOD
- Design Patterns.
- Unit testing using MSTest / nUnit or similar
The additional experience in the following areas is advantageous:
- WPF and or Windows Forms
- NET with Blazor
- 3D Graphics Engines (OpenGL/WebGL or similar)
- C++ Cross-platform development (for Linux and Windows platforms)
- Microservices and REST interfaces.
- Intel Integrated Performance Primitives Libraries (Intel IPP)
Candidates’ Experience
Candidate will be a graduate in Software Engineering, or alternatively Engineering or Physics graduates with a strong interest in software. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with great organisational and software skills who can work in a team with other high calibre scientists and engineers.
If, due to their background the candidates are able to contribute to the business in a wider role than just software (for example having a knowledge of electronics, sonar, systems, trials etc) then this will be an advantage.

Measures of success will include:
- Demonstrating use of best-practice software development procedures and methodologies.
- Producing high quality code and documentation for the software products.
- Demonstrating ability to learn quickly and adapt to the company technology stack and software development process.
